What's Up Doc? Rabbit Vibrators

Question: When is a rabbit a dolphin?

Answer: That depends on which type of vibrator you purchase.

This blog is just going to have a quick look at rabbit vibrators, what they do and why they are so popular. If you visit any good site which specialises in vibrators, you should notice that the bunnies tend to get a category of their very own. This is because the range of rabbit vibrators available today is incredibly varied.

The rabbit is the style of toy which first comes to mind to many people when they hear the word vibrator. This is in part due to the famous Charlotte, bunny addiction episode of Sex and the City. When it was first released the rabbit was unique. Its aim was to provide internal stimulation, like a traditional vibrator, but in addition to this, the bunny vibe also intended to provide clitoral stimulation.

This dual purpose led to the design of a vibrator which had a longer wider main body and a smaller prong intended just for the clitoris. The original design was aimed squarely at women, it was pink and the very end of the clitoral arm resembled bunny ears – thus the rabbit style vibrator was born.

The original bunny was made of a rubbery like material as were many of the toys of the time. It usually contained only one motor which vibrated the shaft and the ears. Many also included the addition of pearl like beads in the shaft which rotated at different speeds, the idea being that these would stimulate the g-spot.

As with all good inventions the rabbit vibrator has evolved over the years. Gradually the consumer has gravitated towards smoother, body safe materials, and many of todays rabbits are now constructed from smooth silicone or phthalate free ABS plastic. The designs have also become far more streamlined with smooth curves and sleek clitoral arms.

In addition, as technology has become more sophisticated you can now purchase rabbit vibrators which have two or even three separately controlled motors. These are great if you need more clitoral stimulation than internal or vice versa. There are also many rabbits now available that no longer have big bulky handles which store a huge amount of batteries (which run out after an hour of use). There are rechargeable versions which sit in chic bases and charge until they are next used.

This brings us to the biggest change in rabbit vibrators themselves, the design of the toy. This varies greatly as can be seen below. Today there are many rabbits which no longer resemble a bunny at all. There are others which actually look far more like a rabbit. Because the terminology has become so familiar most manufacturers now refer to any vibrator which is two pronged with the idea of providing both clitoral and g-spot stimulation as a rabbit, or ‘rabbit style’.

Hang on! I hear you ask, will a rabbit vibrator work for me. Now this is a question which is actually very difficult to answer. Everyone has a different shaped body and unfortunately for sex toy manufacturers not all g-spots are in the same place. Yes, they work wonders for a lot of people. If you know that you have a deep g-spot, look for a toy with a longer shaft. Likewise, if you clitoris is very close then look for one with a short arm. Otherwise rest assured that if you buy a great toy with good vibrations it is bound to hit your g-pot and clitoris well (just maybe not at the same time!).

So let’s have a quick look at a few of the more popular rabbits which can be purchased these days. I must stress that there are a lot of rabbits available so I have chosen to look at our best sellers. In addition we do not sell many of the traditional style rabbits as many are still not made from body safe materials.

The iVibe Rabbit – Doc Johnson was one of the first manufacturers to introduce a rabbit style vibrator and their iVibe range is still one of the best selling toys around. If you are keen to replicate Sex and the City have a look at the iVibe Waterproof rabbit. If something a little more updated is your style try the new iVibe Select iRabbit.

Lelo Soraya – This is one of the more glamorous bunny sex toys on the market. Made from smooth silicone with metallic like plating, the Soraya is an extremely sleek rabbit.

Bunny Wand – This line of products is reasonably new, but has received some good reviews to date. The bunny wand combines two of the most sought after features in a vibrator, a wand with a rabbit style body.

Je Joue Fifi – I have to include Fifi as it is so cute, this toy really does resemble a rabbit (especially if you select it in pink). It features two quite long ears to provide clitoral stimulation.

Entice Vivien – This is a new product to Simply Vibrators and it has proved to be very popular in the short time we have been selling it. This is a very sleek toy which is not large in size, but it has the extra function of warming up as you use it.

Whooper Swan – This is a fantastic vibrator, it has quite a full shape but really deep rumbly vibrations in both shaft and the arm provide an amazing experience.

These are just a few of our more popular rabbit vibrators. There are so many to choose from. For example I have only highlighted the Whooper Swan above but the majority of the Swan line consists of rabbits, you just need to have a look and see which one might be right for you. (If in doubt check out www.swanvibes.com to compare all of their sex toys). I hope you have found some of the information useful and if not, as always please contact us with any questions. In the meantime if it is a rabbit you are after then hop to it!
